General


The department of Accounting provides the academic basis for a professional career in a range of sectors. The excellent preparation and training blending both the theoretical and practical principles of accounting and finance enables students to develop the business skills required in order to meet the demands of enterprises, organizations and other services. The department comprises teaching rooms and computer rooms where students are fully trained to use various accounting software programs. The duration of studies is seven (7) semesters followed by one semester of practical training. The studies are considered completed after the elaboration and submission of a dissertation on a subject related to their area of studies.

Career Opportunities


The graduates of the department of Accounting can be employed in both the private and public sector and specifically in account offices or departments that have an organic relation to the account offices. Particularly, graduates can be engaged in the maintance and writing up of account books, production and cost estimate books as well as account books where property data are gradually recorded. They can also be involved in issuing of first registration data, recording of index cards, maintenance of storehouse data books, and payments. Upon successful completion of five years of work experience, graduates will be able to hold the position of an accountant, according to the current legislation, and they can set up and operate account offices keeping track of books of A, B and C category of the Tax Code. Furthermore, the above graduates can be appointed in all the levels of the educational system and join research groups related to their specialty.
